Catharine Russell lives on the south coast and studied ceramics at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. She specialises in making objects from fabric dipped in slip and works with porcelain, using a variety of glazes and transfer decoration.

Catharine divides her time between her studio at Making Space, Havant, and her part-time job as a lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. She previously worked in marketing and publicity at West Dean College and the Otter Gallery at the University of Chichester..  

A former Fleet Street journalist, Catharine took a career break  in 2007 to return to college. She gained a first class BA honours degree in Three Dimensional Design (Ceramics) in 2012.
